Buzz surrounded the Japanese publication Alfalfalfa’s post of the “Invisible Man” on Friday, the China Insider noticed, with nearly 1,000 retweets on Twitter in Japan. Who is this man and what is the buzz about?
Liu Bolin is a Chinese artist who has perfected the art of blending into real life scenes. He has received international recognition for his chameleon-like work and has created quite the buzz around the world. Bolin paints himself into scenes and notes that two things make the most ideal shot: “position of camera and focus. Focus is the most important.”
The artwork he is most interested in is turning ordinary, real life objects, such as mobile phones, into the subject of art. “Most people won’t think of those things as art objects. But through the work of artists, people realize those objects can be art. This kind of art moves me,” Bolin says.
