Welcome to the very first edition of Kyushu Weekender. Sister magazine to TW, which has been keeping local and expat Tokyoites informed and entertained since 1970, KSW follows on from the first edition of Kansai Weekender, which we published in 2018.
This brand-new publication offers a wealth of information for those looking to explore Japan’s third largest and southernmost island. This culturally and historically rich region is known for its active volcanoes, beautiful beaches, superb seafood and natural hot springs. It also boasts a subtropical climate, making it a great destination for year-round travel.
Covering all seven of Kyushu’s prefectures – Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki and Kagoshima – KSW magazine takes you on adventures through selected cities in these areas, highlighting top attractions and off-the-beaten-path sightseeing spots as well as plenty of excellent places to stay, shop, eat and relax. You’ll discover what makes each prefecture unique on its own but also how they all come together to create Kyushu’s very original personality.
Whether you’ve only got a couple of days to spare for a quick getaway from Tokyo, or you’re looking to plan a leisurely two- or three-week vacation, our ultimate guide to Kyushu is the perfect place to begin.
KSW’s first print edition is distributed during the month of April 2019 in selected locations around Kyushu. You can also find a copy in Tokyo at all the same venues that stock Tokyo Weekender.
