”Your Profile,” a solo exhibition by Taro Yamada, winner of the Ob Prize starts on October 9 at Nakano Broadway. It is the seventh exhibition in the Geisai series of 13 exhibitors in total.
Yamada says: “The English words ‘side profile’ and ‘profile’ have the same meaning, but the Japanese word yokogao (side profile) can refer to ‘a generally unknown aspect of a person,’ as well as ʻa face seen from the side.ʼ The word ʻprofileʼ also has a polysemic meaning of ʻan outline or a cross-section.ʼ As the name of the exhibition suggests, the exhibition is not only to be viewed from a single point of view, but from multiple facets.”
