Shibuya’s Iconic Halloween Haunt Moves to the Metaverse

Shibuya’s legendary Halloween celebration is going digital! This year, with a ban on public drinking and Halloween street parties in place, the city is inviting revelers to join “Virtual Halloween” from October 24 to November 30. Dive into an immersive, recreated Shibuya streetscape in five different online platforms where you can explore and interact with other avatars. Special Halloween content will also feature popular Japanese creators, including a cover of Junky’s hit song “Happy Halloween” by artist Kohanarum, who boasts over 637,000 YouTube subscribers. In addition, digital artists from Stardust Records will host exclusive content, while “Mirror Muse,” an avatar app, will offer limited-edition Halloween stamps. Now in its fifth year, Virtual Halloween promises a fun, safe alternative to the iconic street festivities.
