Experience Ryuichi Sakamoto’s Legacy at MOT
From December 21, 2024, the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (MOT) presents “Ryuichi Sakamoto | Seeing Sound, Hearing Time,” the largest exhibition in Japan dedicated to the late composer and artist (1952–2023). This immersive showcase features over 10 groundbreaking sound installations, including newly unveiled works and iconic pieces. Sakamoto’s innovative exploration of sound, time, and space transforms the museum’s indoor and outdoor spaces, offering a deeply moving, multi-sensory experience. The exhibition highlights Sakamoto’s collaborations with notable artists such as Shiro Takatani, Daito Manabe and Apichatpong Weerasethakul, delving into his lifelong artistic inquiries into sound and temporality.
