A nuclear-powered US aircraft carrier will arrive this weekend in South Korea for sea drills, officials have announced.
The USS Nimitz, along with a US naval strike group including ‘at least’ three guided-missile cruisers and destroyers will take part in joint exercises with the South that risk further infuriating North Korea, reports AFP.
A port call in the southern city of Busan is planned for Saturday. “US Navy ship visits are a tangible symbol of US commitment in the region and show continued interest in ensuring a climate for regional stability and economic prosperity,” said a statement from the US military, released Friday.
