We are pleased to be able to announce a special Tokyo International Film Festival ticket giveaway, with five pairs of screening passes up for grabs.
The 26th Tokyo International Film Festival takes place from October 17-25, but we have tickets for a special pre-festival screening event at Akasaka Civic Hall on September 29.
The film is What Maisie Knew, the story of a young girl caught up in a bitter custody battle. It stars Steve Coogan, Julianne Moore and Alexander Skarsgård.
At the 2012 Tokyo International Film Festival, Tokyo Weekender met with Scott McGehee and David Siegel, directors of What Maisie Knew (click to read that interview) and the pair discussed the original Henry James novel that inspired their contemporary re-imagining.
The festival is a chance to see a lot of releases from around the world in English in a central Tokyo location before many of them are on general release, and over the years stars from around the world have come to Tokyo for audiences with local media and fans. This year, Captain Phillips, starring Tom Hanks and directed by Bourne series director Paul Greengrass, will open proceedings, with those same Hollywood A-listers expected to be in attendance.
