Don’t let rainy season dampen your spirits: this collection of the month’s hottest trending tracks should pick up your mood, rain or shine.
Rita Ora – “Your Song”
It’s been years since Rita has released music, so imagine our excitement when “Your Song” finally dropped. The mid-tempo love song is co-written with Ed Sheeran and carries hints of “Shape Of You” and “I Will Never Let You Down.”
BTS – “Spring Day”
K-pop band BTS recently conquered America, winning a Billboard Music Award and spending 27 weeks as the world’s most popular music artist on social media. Their music is available in both Korean and Japanese, including current pop-ballad “Spring Day.”
Liam Gallagher – “Wall Of Glass”
Liam Gallagher releases his debut solo single this month and the result is what you might expect from a modern-day Oasis single. Gallagher worked with Greg Kurstin – the producer behind the mega hits of Adele – on his upcoming album. “Wall Of Glass” is a big rock anthem with gritty guitars and Gallagher’s signature vocals, which are impossible not to sing along with.
Kehlani – “Keep On”
For those heading to Summer Sonic this year, check out Kehlani’s album SweetSexySavage before you see her on the Beach Stage. “Keep On” is a silky sleek R&B song in the same vein as Tinashe and nineties Brandy.
NEIKED ft. Dyo – “Sexual (Oliver Nelson Remix)”
Swedish producer Neiked teams up with singer Dyo for this saucy viral hit that has been on Spotify dance lists for months. The Oliver Nelson Remix speeds the track up right in time for those sweaty summers on the balcony.
Little Mix – “Touch”
Tracks from the band’s latest album Glory Days seem to be on heavy rotation on the Shinjuku club circuit at the moment. “Touch” is one of the edgier numbers on the record with fierce vocals and a sexy bass line.
Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake – “Love Never Felt So Good”
We are remembering the King of Pop this month as June 25 marks eight years since his passing. “Love Never Felt So Good” was released posthumously in 2014 as a duet with Justin Timberlake. The video features a beautiful tribute of dancers and classic MJ clips.
Izzy Bizu – “Talking To You”
The British singer was in Japan for a series of gigs and Yokohama’s Greenroom Festival. Her music is uplifting soulful jazz-pop and Talking To You is one of the album stand outs.
