Explore Ancient Egyptian Artifacts

A selection from Brooklyn Museum’s ancient Egyptian collection, the largest Egyptian art collection in the United States, is coming to Japan to be displayed at the Mori Arts Center Gallery in their new exhibition, “Unraveling the Mysteries of Ancient Egypt from Brooklyn Museum.”

Around 150 artifacts, including sculptures, coffins, jewelry, pottery, papyrus and mummified specimens will illustrate the lives of those who lived in ancient Egyptian society. The latest research from cutting-edge Egyptian archaeologist Kawae Yukinori will also guide guests through the exhibit to deepen their knowledge about the pyramids, Egyptian culture, linguistics and the afterlife.

An audio guide by Fuma Kikuchi, the official ambassador for the exhibit, is available to rent. Various merchandise will also be on sale, including the official exhibit catalog with 248 pages on the collection, various Peanuts character collaboration goods featuring Snoopy and friends as archaeologists, and original merchandise highlighting ancient Egyptian culture.

During the exhibition time, The Sun & The Moon Cafe will be open for a limited time as the “Special Exhibition Ancient Egypt Cafe.” The special menu is inspired by Egyptian dishes such as koshari, taameya, and kebabs. The cafe will open from 11:00 to 22:00.

After the Mori Arts Center Gallery, the exhibit will also be touring at the Shizuoka Prefectural Museum of Art from April 19 to June 15, and at the Toyota City Museum in Aichi from June 28 to September 7.
