Hilma af Klint Exbition Comes to Tokyo

In March, a new exhibition of Swedish abstract artist Hilma af Klint is coming to the National Museum of Modern Art. Hilma af Klint (1862-1994) was a pioneer of abstract painting whose work preceded contemporaries such as Wassily Kandinsky.

It is the first exhibition of Hilm af Klint in Asia, and will feature over 140 works. Included in the exhibition is Klint’s pinnacle work the Ten Largest (1907), a group of 10 paintings over 3 meters tall. Her sketchbooks and notebooks displayed offer an insight into her full artistic career.
