A Golden National Treasure
For only a few weeks each year, the Nezu Museum displays Ogata Korin’s “Irises at Yatsuhashi” screens. A jewel in the museum’s collections, the iris screens are a National Treasure so iconic that they grace Japan’s 5,000-yen note.
This year, the golden screens will take center stage alongside two other Edo-period folding screen masterpieces — Maruyama Okyo’s “Wisteria” and Suzuki Kiitsu’s “Mountain Streams in Summer and Autumn.”
