Celebrate Sakura Season at 345 Meters

Tokyo Skytree is having a special seasonal event to highlight the beauty of sakura.

The tower’s high-speed elevator runs at 350 meters at 600 meters per minute, taking you up to the observation deck for a breathtaking 360-degree view of Tokyo. For a limited time, Skytree is decked out in a sakura theme, with new interior decorations and installations, seasonal drinks and outer lighting.

Tembo Deck has four photo spots. The deck’s large windows are full of sakura decals to combine festive floral blooms with the stunning panoramic cityscape. An optional photo service can add additional cherry blossom petals composited into the background. Various other installations in the area create fun frames for photos. The Skytree Round Theater will screen a special video expressing the transient beauty of cherry blossoms.

Skytree Cafe has an exclusive menu of sweets and drinks. The non-alcoholic Sakura Sora is a gorgeous soda drink that mimics a sakura tree in full bloom against a bright blue sky. It combines strawberries and lychees, and a subtle cherry blossom scent. The alcoholic Sakura Pop is a Horoyoi gin-based cocktail with an entire cherry blossom and strawberry popsicle. As the popsicle is gradually mixed into the drink, the flavors evolve. The cafe will also serve vibrant sakura mochi donuts.

The Skytree Shop is selling seasonal items along with exclusive event goods, including an engraved metal keychain depicting Tokyo Skytree surrounded by sakura. You can personalize the keychain with the date of your visit and a special message.

Tokyo Skytree will be lit up with pink, purple and blue lights at night to convey flowers falling with the wind. The lighting schedule is set for 18:45 to 22:00 during March, and 19:00 to 22:00 during April. For a complete schedule, please check the website.
