Pokémon Reimagined Through Recycled Materials

Tama Art University is hosting their third rendition of the “Thinking with Pokémon: Art and Environmental Education” exhibition. Art students have reimagined over 70 Pokémon characters using everyday items as art materials. The exhibition aims to demonstrate the importance of art education, as well as environmental education, through creativity.

Product design students will show their creations in the “Pokémon Upcycle Sculpture” exhibit. Each sculpture reuses everyday items in a creative way to prevent them from going to landfills. A wide variety of characters, including Pikachu, Charizard, Eevee, Ogerpon and Zorua, will be featured.

A “Make Your Own Pokéball” workshop will be held for two days at the International Design Liaison Center during the exhibition period. Matching the exhibition’s themes, guests can decorate their own Pokéball made out of recycled cardboard. This is a free event that will be hosted on March 29 and April 6 for elementary school students and their guardians. The workshop will have three sessions per day: ① 11:00-12:30, ② 13:30-15:00, and ③ 15:30-17:00. Applications for the workshop are accepted on a first-come first-serve basis. To apply, please check the Tama Art University TUB website.
