Celebrate All Things Kimono
Tokyo Kimono Show is a 3-day event celebrating the traditions of kimono and traditional culture. With special exhibitions, performances, fashion shows, pop-up booths and workshops, Tokyo Kimono Show aims to grow interest in cultural fashion and showcase new innovative ideas and designs.
The event will be held simultaneously at four main venues around the Nihonbashi Ningyocho wholesale district, as well as eight satellite venues in the surrounding area.
Kimono Style Exhibition
The Kimono Style Exhibition at the Sunrise building will have over 100 kimono mannequins on display. With the theme of “kimono is expression,” the exhibit will be filled with various kimono of different types, styles, materials and eras. Renowned Taiwanese artist Justin Chou is visiting Japan this year. Pieces from the collaboration between his brand, Just in XX, and Tokyo Kimono Show 2025 will be displayed. Tea Ceremony
The second floor of the Sunrise building will also have a tea ceremony venue. Three different styles of tea ceremony will be available during the event time. A ceremony participation fee of ¥1000 per person will be charged in addition to the event admission fee.
Market
The Wa Marche at Mensho Kaikan (floors 3 to 6) will hold a Japanese market with over 100 pop-up brand booths for the ultimate kimono shopping experience. The market will sell garments, shoes, accessories, souvenirs and more. For floor maps and a full list of vendors, please check the website.
Stage Performances
The Stage at the 3rd floor of the Blooming Nakanishi building will host various performances throughout the event. World-acclaimed doll maker and costume designer Hiroshi Hori is celebrating his 50th anniversary of puppet making, and will kick off the event with a special performance on the first day. Other stage shows include Kotaro Nakano, owner of the brand Kasoyo, who will be showcasing 32 dyed kimono; Tomoko Fujiawara with the Kimono Dress Project; an Edo-era fashion show and a dance performance. The second floor of the Blooming Nakanishi building will serve as the “Japanese fun area” where guests can enjoy and learn more about traditional dances, musical instruments and needlework.
Workshops
The Tagen building will house several workshops where guests can create their own kimono accessories such as jewelry, bamboo bags, hair ornaments, bookmarks and perfume. A workshop participation fee will be charged in addition to the event admission fee. Workshop reservations are given priority.
A rickshaw service will be running between the four main venues. Guests can enjoy a ride for ¥500.
