Along with visiting the local shrine and watching Kohaku Uta Gassen on TV, one classic Japanese New Year’s tradition is eating osechi, a variety of foods presented in elaborate boxes called jubako.
Now you can get your hands on a new twist on osechi, with jubako boxes filled not with traditional New Year’s meals, but handmade desserts.
These osechi dessert boxes are made by patissier Toyama and chocolatier Furukawa, and carry an assortment of treats from cakes to puddings to cheeses.
Available by mail order until December 23, the boxes will arrive from December 27 to 30, making for a very tasty New Year’s.
