A Japanese dancer was named the winner of the famous US talent contest “America’s Got Talent.”
Kenichi Ebina, 39, took home the top prize of $1 million after busting robot-like dance moves on the stage at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall as well as a headline show in Las Vegas, Kyodo News Agency reports.
After four long months of competition, Ebina, a self-taught dancer, emerged as the winner, beating five other finalists, including an opera singer and a magician during the show’s season finale.
He said he wants to take his now popular performances around the globe and that he hopes to help direct the opening ceremony for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Ebina was born in Kawasaki, near Tokyo, and taught himself to dance. His incredible moves have earned him the admiration of celebrities like Madonna, who reportedly paid for a private performance.
The show, which debuted in 2006, airs in prime time on NBC, and is at its eight season this year, drawing nearly 75,000 singers, dancers, magicians, comedians and other talented hopefuls.
