An alleged shoe thief was arrested by Tokyo metropolitan police. The twist? The suspect is a 28-year-old man who has taken quite a liking to high-heeled shoes.

Sho Sato liked the high-heeled shoes worn by hostesses at night clubs and bars in Tokyo so much that he stole hundreds of pairs—448 pairs to be exact.

Police found the loot in a room rented by Sato, who is unemployed and has no fixed residence, after he was caught stealing cash from a club in Ikebukuro on January 6.

Sato confessed to the allegations.

“I had no interest in selling the high-heeled shoes. Rather, it was a joy to be stealing them,” Sato told police at the Ikebukuro Police Station.

“I’ve felt preasure in stealing high heels. I was not interested in brand-new products,” he said.

“The lockers at the club’s changing room were a like a treasure chest.”

Sato was apparently caught on a security camera breaking into a Tokyo hostess club’s locker room, taking off with 14 paris of shoes, Yomiuri Shimbun reported.
