The Tamura family used to be village heads of Fussa city and established Tamura Brewery in 1822. The brewery is still family-run with a 16th generation CEO in charge. A well on the brewery grounds was dug out almost 200 years ago is a registered cultural property – the water inside is still used for sake production.
Tamura Shuzojo has always been small, and it intentionally limits its production.
